Based on the beloved novel, the Fitzgerald family becomes a family divided. Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric) are the parents of three children, Kate, Jesse and Anna. Suffering from leukemia, Kate relies on her younger sister Anna (Abigail Breslin) as she is the only member of the family genetically able to help in Kate’s fight against her disease. But when Anna wants to put a stop to round after round of medical procedures performed on her in an effort to help her sister, the Fitzgerald home is shaken.
