Peter O’Toole Dies at 81
Peter O’Toole, star of “Lawrence of Arabia” and widely considered among the greatest actors of his generation, died Saturday at age 81.
An eight-time Oscar nominee, O’Toole never won until 2002 with an honorary award, O’Toole is best known for his role in 1962’s “Arabia,” about which Variety said O’Toole’s performance was “possibly the greatest debut lead performance by any screen actor in history.”
O’Toole also starred in films like “The Lion in Winter,” “Murphy’s War,” “My Favorite Year, “Goodbye, Mr. Chips,” and “The Last Emperor” over a career that spanned more than 50 years. He recently completed work on “Katherine of Alexandria.”
