I always find it exciting when someone who’s established themselves as an actor steps behind the camera to direct and/or write. It’s like seeing someone join your company in the mailroom and a few years later they’re being promoted to manager.
Even better when they’re actually good at running the show.
Natalie Morales, who’s had a nice career on film and television for at least a decade, has directed shorts and television episodes for some time. She made her feature film directing debut earlier this year with “Plan B,” and now has this comedy/drama close on its heels.
“Language Lessons” is a lovely and moving comedy/drama centering on a long-distance platonic relationship.
